Marshall is an award-winning British singer, songwriter, and producer whose genre-defying career spans over two decades. Known for his soulful vocals and timeless sound, Marshall has written and produced for global stars including Stormzy, Britney Spears, 6LACK, Rema, Ayra Starr, Tion Wayne, Craig David, and Nelly Furtado to name but a few.
“I went into production because I didn’t want to be famous, because I saw a lot of pressure and things that wasn't really music, which is why even as a producer maybe for the first 10 years, I never used to put my name on records, I had a pseudonym and hid behind it”.
Marshall has courted major industry attention most of his life, signed to Virgin Records at just 12, he quickly made his mark, remixing tracks and producing music while still in college. His breakout moment came with Craig David’s seminal multi-platinum album Slicker Than Your Average, where he co-wrote and produced eight tracks, including the international hit “What’s Your Flava.”
The craft always lead to obsession for Marshall, the allure of fame far less so and he worked furtively under a pseudonym to avoid the spotlight in a bid to keep the essence of that which mattered most to him, the music. The man who had always preferred orchestrating from behind the curtain had his now infamous passion for performing ignited after a spontaneous on-stage moment with K-Ci & JoJo, and realised later when Marshall was asked to go on tour with Craig David. It was David, credits Marshall, who was ‘instrumental’ to him making his own records.
“We were on stage and he said “Marsh, when are you gonna release your own music man? If you don’t do it you’re gonna regret it...when you perform, people go crazy. You’ve got to stop hiding now.”’
It was after that conversation a few years ago that Marshall became laser focused and began weaving a tapestry drawing on his experiences as a child and aspirations as a man culminating in his latest single ‘Nothing on Me’ and his debut album which he’s readying to see the light of day early in 2026.
Marshall says ‘‘it’s taken me years to get back to where I was when I was ten years old.’ When he was creating for the fun of it. ‘Because you learn so many rules from the industry I have now had to unlearn to express myself.’ Now, Marshall’s happy to say he has arrived at that place where ‘the expression is authentic’ - it’s this authenticity within his music that Marshall now strives for. ‘It’s about being true to myself with everything. And it’s taken me this long to actually remember what that means.’
Now channeling years of industry experience into his most authentic work yet, Marshall is currently creating his debut full length project. Blending electronic hip-hop, funk, and 80s pop with soul stirring vocals and hypnotic grooves, his sound is both fresh and timeless, crafted for global audiences, yet deeply personal.
It’s the record he spent his entire life to make culminating in a record that will span the rest of his life.
